Protecting Outdoor Assets with Videofied

The security industry has long struggled with how to properly protect outdoor assets. Photo beams, standard outdoor motion detectors, and even video analytics can leave plenty to be desired and each have their own weak points.

Photo beams and motion detectors have no means of verification. Anything crossing the beam will trigger an alarm condition and central stations have no idea if that trigger was a dog scrounging for food, or an actual burglar. Motion detectors are also prone to false alarms because of outdoor environmental conditions and winds which can appear as body heat. Because these methods do not have any sort of verification method, local authorities do not respond with priority and the end-user racks up false alarm fees. Advanced video analytics can be very effective, but are out of reach of anything but the largest budgets. Affordable systems with analytics either require too much daily input from the end-user to be effective or are simply poorly designed and unreliable.   Standard video surveillance does not stop a crime, it does provide post event evidence, but without someone watching the video or an alarm trigger to cause someone to respond, video surveillance alone is not enough to stop the theft of copper, syphoning of outdoor fuel tanks, outdoor inventory assets or the disruption of critical business infrastructure.   This is where video verification of alarms provides an imeasurable advantage. Products like Videofied will trigger an alarm condition and cause a trained operator at the central station to personally respond to the live video within seconds. When weinstall and monitor a videofied system, our central station responds to burglaries by calling police dispatch with a VERIFIED burglary. The difference between a video verified burglary in progress and a standard alarm is about half an hour! This means that Videofied leads to actual arrests, not just a police report and an insurance claim. This is a large part of why Videofied is the only alarm product endorsed by the National Sherrif’s Association.

Crossing this fence after-hours results in immediate police dispatch.

Police departments have response protocols based on the priority of the call. Standard alarms are very low on the priority list due to the large number of false alarms inherent to outdoor sensors. Video verified alarms carry the same response as an on-site eye-witness to a crime in progress. That means instant police response.
