Independent Security Dealer – What does that mean?

What does it mean to be a truly independent security dealer?

From the Desk of the G.M.

Yesterday I was was invited by our sales manager to sit in on a security assessment for a potential new client.  This particular client is a large global logistics and supply chain management company in Plainfield, Indiana.  They have, Im sure, thousands of strategic partners across the globe in hundreds of fields of expertise. I was excited to visit the client and see how we could put our heads together to solve some problems for them. I was doubly excited because Hoosier Security is exceptionally well suited to solve problems in the area of security for logistics providers. We have done extensive work in the field, and I am a co-patent holder on a video and alarming system for mobile asset tracking and supply-chain control. While this is not what they were looking for, the insight into their industry and what they deal with daily allows for me to more easily understand their concerns on a deeper level.

While we were discussing the problems they see, and potential solutions with both the head of IT and Head of Security, standing in the IT room in their Plainfield location,  they asked me a question that I had not been asked in years.

“Tell us about Hoosier Security and what makes you different and right to work for us.”

WOW! I felt like I was on my first job interview in about a dozen years. To me it was obvious, we’re Hoosier Security, We’re independent, thats good. We’re local to Indiana but we have a strong and reliable national reach. We think outside the box and we build custom systems, we look at jobs as opportunities to solve problems, all of these are attributes anyone would want in their security systems provider. It had never dawned on me that the world may not automatically know our areas of expertise, how differently we do business, and how our company culture is geared towards solving the problems that keeps our clients awake at night. I must admit, my mind went blank and I answered on auto-pilot,  revealing what is a deeply held belief that our independence allows us to choose equipment based on its ability to solve the problems at hand, and perform up to the specific expectations of the client we are installing that equipment for and NOT based on what is sitting on the shelf, or which manufacturer we have a distribution agreement with!

On the drive back to the office I really put some thought into what it means to be a truly independent security company. The things that we take for granted as simply the right way to do business, really are of huge benefit to our clients. Those very things are what differentiate us from the pack.

So, what does it mean to be a Truly Independent Security Dealer?

  • Independent means that we can choose security equipment based on our customers’ needs, and budget, and when decisions are made, they are made with our customers for the right compromises, not because one vendor gave us a better deal on XYZ product. Not every entry level solution is the right entry level solution, and not every enterprise-class system is right for every enterprise. We pursue industry partnerships carefully and broadly, being careful never to allow for exclusivity.
  • Independent means that we dont sell service contracts just so we can gain the revenue, there has to be a mutual benefit or we wont sell it. The same rules that apply to our no long-term contract monitoring services, apply to our dealings with enterprise-class servers. We continue to perform, you continue to hire us. We stop performing or let you down, and you have every right to fire us. Because we HAVE to perform in order to keep your business.
  • Independent means that our customers are ours to lose, if we dont perform, there is no hiding behind a corprorate veil. Our competence, our performance and our results speak for our effectiveness every day, with every customer, and every single one is important to us.
  • In a word, truly independent means truly accountable.

I hope you will give us the opportunity to serve you and show you first hand that first class problem solving and customer service in the security industry is not dead. Hoosier Security works with business of all sizes, from Mom and Pop, to Fortune 500 and Government/Institutional and we are comfortable finding the right custom security solution to your security problems regardless of how big or small.
